Reporting to the Head of Operations, this is an opportunity for a commercially minded professional to take a leading role in managing contracts, overseeing commercial processes and supporting the successful delivery of projects from initial tender through to final account.
The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, subcontractors and clients, ensuring projects are commercially controlled, risks are managed and contractual obligations are met.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
• Lead and coordinate quantity surveying activities across a portfolio of projects and contracts.
• Monitor commercial performance, work in progress, cost forecasts, budgets and cash flow.
• Prepare and review cost-value reconciliations, valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, package agreements, payments and commercial performance.
• Identify and manage contractual risks, variations, claims and potential disputes.
• Administer contracts in line with relevant terms, including NEC3 procedures where applicable.
• Manage early warnings, compensation events and other contractual notifications.
• Work closely with project managers, site teams and senior management to maintain commercial control.
• Support tender submissions, pricing exercises and the evaluation of new project opportunities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor project KPIs and provide accurate commercial reporting to support business decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve commercial processes, reduce risk and protect project margins.
• Support the development of commercial procedures and the effective management of the wider QS workload.
Requirements
Our client is keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction, M&E, building services or a related environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing project costs, budgets and financial reporting.
• Experience managing subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• A good understanding of contract administration, commercial risk and change management.
• The ability to interpret contractual requirements and manage issues proactively.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage with clients, contractors and internal teams.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, commercial decision-making and improving project performance.
A relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying is essential.
Experience with NEC3 contracts, cost-value reconciliation processes and commercial claims would be particularly beneficial. Exposure to retrofit, energy-efficiency or net-zero projects would also be an advantage.

• Salary of up to £65,000, depending on experience.
• Vehicle allowance.
• Permanent position with an established business.
• Opportunity to take on a senior commercial role with responsibility across multiple projects.
